The British love to talk about the weather, it's a national obsession. Generally London, the southeast and the West Country are the warmest parts of the UK. The overall climate in Britain could be classified as mild and damp, temperatures are kept in check by the light winds blowing inland off the British Isles relatively warm seas. Temperatures inland can go below zero in the depth of winter, from December to February. During the summer, June to August , temperatures rarely go above 30°C (90°F). Contrary to popular belief London is relatively free of rain and smog, they say it rains more in Rome! UK rainfall is greatest in hilly parts such as Wales and in the rural West Country. London is also a few degrees warmer than the rest of the UK, the benefit of having 9 million neighbours! Weather across the UK is unpredictable; expect cloudy, drizzly weather in any part of England any day. |
